Investigating the effect of legal awareness and belief in a just world on the resilience of divorced women in Gonabad city: A multiple regression approach
English Abstract: Divorced women face numerous psychological and social harms due to the experience of divorce, and resilience plays an important role in their adaptation. knowledge of laws, and resilience among 100 divorced women in Gonabad city using a descriptive-correlation method. The research tools included the Belief in a Just World Scale (Sutton and Douglas, 2005; Dalbert, 1999), Connor and Davidson's Resilience Questionnaire (2003), and a researcher-made questionnaire of knowledge of laws. The data were analyzed using SPSS-26 software. Based on the findings, significant direct relationships were observed between resilience and the components of "belief in a just world for oneself" (r=0.72), "for others" (r=0.845), "general just belief" (r=0.63), and a negative relationship with "belief in an unjust world" (r=-0.82). Also, awareness of laws and legal and social protections showed a significant positive relationship with resilience (r=0.79). The results of regression analysis showed that the research model has a good fit (DW=1.69;R=0.96). In the prediction model, the components of “belief in a fair world for oneself” (β=0.182;p=0.043), “general just belief” (β=0.207;p=0.013), “belief in an unfair world” (β=-0.212;p=0.009) and “awareness of laws and legal and social protections” (β=0.279;p=0.013) were significant predictors of resilience, while “belief in a fair world for others” did not have a significant effect (p=0.206). Overall, the results show that strengthening positive fair beliefs and promoting legal awareness has a direct and significant effect on increasing the resilience of divorced women, while beliefs in unfairness play a weakening role on resilience.
